@remembercharles is a Houston artist whose primary vision is to bring togetherness through expression. This vision is accomplished through his image and artwork. Charles brings thought into reality. His latest collection, “That Negro Hit’s Hard,” is a 10 piece collection of different black athletes with blurred faces. Real-life athletes inspire the pieces, but the highlight is that you don’t need to know an athlete's name to see their impact on todays culture.

Even if you don’t know Jackie Robinson, the ripples of his impact still shake the sports world today. He played a critical role in the desegregation of baseball and, ultimately, all sports worldwide. Jackie pushed boundaries and created a new narrative. He brought togetherness to a sports world that was resistant to allowing a black man to play baseball with white men and was the first black athlete to play in the MLB. Jackie broke barriers and records that had been established for years showing that black athletes were just as deserving of the positions white athletes held for years. Slowly chipping away from discriminatory ideology.

Charles continues the breakdown of stereotypical barriers in art with a foundational black creative studio @sanmanstudios. Charles doesn’t see his fellow artists as competition. He sees them as an extension of the innovative narrative and expression he wants to push forward. Even though Charles is a groundbreaking artist in the Houston scene, he wants to continue to push new faces into the ever-growing creative industry and works with Sanman Studios to accomplish just that. He thinks black art is in a new renaissance, and Sanman Studios has brought the ability to showcase black creatives in an ever-growing space.
